Hi,

1) Which tapes are the best for shooting a feature and which batteries do you guys reccomend?

2)Batteries. The ones advertised on this site are good? They cost only 45 dollars.

3) How to mask 4:3 so after droping in editing I will get 16:9?
How can I be sure how much space EXACTLY TO MASK?

hi voytek,

1) best tapes are those who recommended by panasonic, either AYDVM63MQ or AYDVM63PQ. whatever you use, very important to stick to it and avoid changing types or brands.

2)dvxuser.com batteries are nothing less than the best deal in the world. i have 4 of them and they work great.

3) which NLE you're on? usually you have a ready-made filter / matte / mask where you can choose between the standards. in FCP it's called "widescreen" under "filters". otherwise, do the math ;)

I have Vegas 4.0 ....
Still not sure how to mask the LCD screen for 16:9.

mask the LCD according to the crop setup provided in the camera. this will give you 1.66:1 (i just found out), almost but not 1.78:1, something you should keep in mind when framing your shot. if you mask the LCD to exact 16:9, you might be hiding the 1st channel level meters with the mask... unless you find a way to mark the LCD without hiding the info on the screen... it's possible, however, i just use a gaffer tape.
