Batteries & AC

Searching, failing, posting instead...

I need at least two batteries and a AC adapter for my AF100. I have the stock battery charger, with the 7.2v port out for the Batt/AC adapter plate, but not said plate.

so...

1. Stick with Panny factory batteries? I recalled Switronix offered a similar form-factor battery with a DC power out (not the power-base)... but can't find it at B&H anymore. Was this a discontinued failure or is it still around and OK to use?

2. I don't notice the DC-to-battery coupler included in the AD20PPK package; is it, or is it possible to buy this coupler by itself?

Thanks.

Thanks

Any ideas from anybody on running off AC power? I apparently can't update the firmware until I do.

Don't know anything about Switronix batteries, but I have the Swit battery with the DC output port:

I use it to power the Nano, and it's probably my favorite battery for the AF100.

OK, been searching on and off all day - what do I need to run this camera off AC, and where do I buy it? Does the AD20PPK include the charger-to-camera adapter or does it not?

I like the $30 generics, like this at Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/IBYVWVBG6.html

For the cost of a single OEM battery, you can get a bunch and go all day. I have three generics and one OEM battery, and that lets me go all day with only powering down to change the batteries. Really the best bang for buck way to power the camera, IMHO.

Yes, I bought it used and that plate wasn't included. If I need to buy a whole 'nuther charger/AC adapter combo to get one, so be it... I don't mind having two chargers. I'd just like to have one charger with said plate.

You're right- at B&H it shows the power supply but not the plate, and the what's in the box doesn't mention it either.
Strange!

  • Panasonic VW-AD20PPK Battery Charger
  • AC Cable
  • 30-Day Limited Warranty
I think somebody found one from Anton Bauer (for the HMC150, same plate) , but I think it was the camera plate connected to an AB Gold Mount plate, without the plug for the Pana power supply.

I've never understood the requirement for AC power by some devices in order to do an update. IMHO, a fully charged battery is less prone to error - no cords dangling out to trip over etc.

On the HMC150, it's called DC Power Cord.
On the AF100, it's called AC/DC Power Cable .

Speaking of AB, B&H has the plate, but with a D tap, made by IDX.

The HMC is backordered- I wonder if thi is part of the problem, or maybe the Japanese tsunami?

Maybe try PMing Jan at Panasonic- I think she handles not only the AF but the HMC, too.
Good luck!

Hello! I have been having this same problem...took all day looking for a battery plate. Did you find where to get one and how did it work? Thank you!!

Superg, I bought one from Dan at Dolgin and it worked like a chieftain.

This was over a year ago, so supplies may have changed.
