Batman Begins (saw it)

Oh, it is? haha, guess I assumed it was a prequel to the first Batman movie since it ended with "I'll look into it" @ the Joker.

So yeah, that's great to hear!

Yeah, Bale and co. were contracted for a trilogy of new Batman movies. The last of the three may or may not lead in to Burton's first Batman movie. I kind of hope it doesn't because I really want to see these new movies fly on their own and be separate.

These new Batman movies has nothing to do with the Burton series.

Several reason why.

In Burton Jack Napierkilled bruce parents.
Batman "created" the Joker
Joel Schumacher totaly destroyed the old franchise

Swede, good points. A trilogy in this style, w/Bale & co.? I'm looking forward to it.

On a side note, my wife didn't really want to watch it because of Bale's scary/creepy performance in American Psycho. Haha, she didn't mind after we started watching though.

While Burton MAY be up for debate, the fact that Schumacher destroyed the franchise with his two entries is not. Sorry!
That's exactly how I feel. I have a personal love for Burton's Batman films because I grew up with them... though I'm pissed that the new DVD's are $20 a piece, and the 4 disc set is $50. Are 3 and 4 really worth the extra $10? I heard the commentaries are filled with appologies to comic book fans, which would be humorous to hear.

I LOVE Tim Burton's movies, even when they're a little off. I think the thing I hated about Burton's Batman movies was the lack of script. Burton's world for Batman was just stunning. I would love to have seen what he would have done with a script(s) like Batman Begins. We'll never know, but I still give Burton A LOT of credit for pulling off as much he did with he had to work with over all, and showing everyone that Batman isn't supposed to campy Adam West...sorry, Adam.

We all know that the orginal Batman TV series was bizarre; a 60's thing...

But defending and/or comparing BUrtons to Schu's is your Batgeek side coming out. There the same same thing.

Burton screwed it up from Day 1. It never felt real; from the get-go it was a big absurd comic book placed into Burtons world. The same world he cant let go of; Beetleguese, Scissorhands, Pee Wee.........................................

Schumacher's versions were not anymore nor any less gayer than Burton's. At least there was color in Schu's.

This new one is what i wanted to see all along; a real world 'what if' plausibility. and not some crap

Well agree this is how batman should have been from the beginning. real world setting. Burton did do some nice things to the batman movies (his black suit etc) but after BB im not sure i can watch the old ones.

Give Burton some credit -- the first Batman was a huge success and no one was doing comic movies at the time.

Agreed. And Burton's Batman had something that I missed from Nolan's Batman: mystery. Nolan explained Batman just shy of including blueprints and a DIY section on Disc 2 of the DVD set. Burton allowed my imagination to figure out some of Batman's abilities.

No, they're not the same thing. Not by a long shot. I'm not even necessarily a Batman fanatic, but for whatever cons the Burton Batman flicks have, they're at least watchable. Joel Schumacher's aren't unless you're on an acid trip. Watch Burton's original Batman and Batman and Robin and tell me they're the same thing? Come on!!! And if you do, that's just YOUR opinion.

I liked the look and feel of Burton's Gotham and Batman. Yea, it's his "thing"--but I dig it. It works for him. I don't want over saturated color in my crime infested Gotham City, thank you very much.

Gayer??? Where did that come from?

That said, I do think the new one is the best of the 5 hands down for a lot of different reasons...villains that don't eclipse the hero for one...

overall i liked this batman... whether in my book its better than the burton version... i don't think so... burton just nailed the look to me and i just liked the film overall.... batman begins was great too... can't wait for the new one(s)

For me its better for one simple reason---the villains didn't eclipse the bat.

Burton's original should have been called "See Jack as Joker" rather than Batman.

I love Burton and liked what he did overall, but I liked BB better scriptwise and tone wise. It felt more real, with a twinge of comic book.
