SHORT: Bath Salts - First take on action/zombies....

Hello Everybody!
My brother and me decided to take on an action shot, as we had not really done anything like it in the past. We chose to do a zombie theme as it is cheap and centered it around bath salts because it is absurd. I unfortunately got a first-hand taste of what fluorescent banding is (and had shutter-roll on a whip-pan shot), but had to live with it as we didn't have the actors on hand again. Anyways I wanted to get feedback from the community to see what worked and what needed to be changed for future action shots. Thanks!

CS6 has a rolling shutter correction plug-in you could try. The noticeable shot happens fast enough that the effect might not be noticed. I thought you did a great job editing, but I think you could experiment with more sound design in relation to the sounds of the movement of the various swipes with the arms and tire iron, as well as moment when bodies strike hard objects and adding some presence to the character by focusing on the sound of his nervous breathe on a secondary track of audio. The scene's where he is being chased would benefit from having the sounds of the rumbling of feet added with some ambient zombie sounds. The whole thing was well put together. A rolling shutter issue and fluorescent banding things are budgetary issues. People who are viewing your work for potential purchase are going to be aware that by their participation and money that those minor technical issues can be resolved with having the right level of gear, shooting time. Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback OddBirdman :D

I really, really need to get a sound guy for any of these bigger shots that I do. I decided to foley all the sound in which was entirely too big of a task for myself alone. Not to mention I couldn't get most of it to sound right and had to throw it out. I unfortunately only gave myself a couple days to get the sound finished and over-estimated my abilities. I need to keep in mind that it takes me almost twice as long to get the sound right versus the picture (and it still didn't feel completely right). But overall it was a fun learning process. Thanks again for the feedback :)
