basic help needed.

I am very new to the hvx200, and ive been working with a vx1000 for years.

i have a pc not a mac, and using premiere pro cs4.
when i 'capture' footy to my computer i plug it via usb and copy the files to a folder on my computer, this seems to work fine. however the clips have a random group of letters and numbers for names. this causes a problem for me, because now i have no idea what clip is what.
can the names of theese clips be renamed? or am i capturing the footage wrong?

let me know if you need more information of what im doing
 
I don't think you should rename any of the raw files, as they are all related by their assigned filenames. But, after you have "Import"ed a clip into CS4, can't you rename it in the Bin?
 
Pannasonic has a dedicated download software app with viewer. It recognizes all the Panna naming format stuff and will verify the files if you choose. Archive that somewhere and import to your edit program.
