SHORT: BASIC EQ's for DIALOGUE

I did some simple EQing for the dialogue in this video. A basic 3 Band punching the highs and reducing the lows. Let me know how it sounds and what you guys would do to improve audio. :) thanks.

In general it sounds ok to me.

And on 00:43, "Is that uuh, is that the....", the "is that uuh" sounds of mic, so if you have another take where it sounds "on mic" would be better.

That SFX at 00:58 can be much louder, people don't notice it. Don't forget that people who watch your short don't know what it is about, don't know that at 00:58 there's gone be a "SFX". Haven't read
your script or the synopsis....So if it passes...it has passed, passed, and it's gone..

Another thing: mono stereo:
DIALOGUES = MONO
AMBI SOUNDS = stereo
SFX = well MONO... but a gunshot sounding in a hallway can be STEREO...and if you like to play it hard, a shotgun in a room with at the right side a hallway (of the screen), would be in STEREO with on the right a reverb, and on the left another reverb with other settings. The right reverb would be the "hallwaysound" and the left the "roomsound (reflections). And then you have the gunshot itself which would be where the gun is..

01:13: the mogs... to loud. But when you lower them in level you need something to fill in the "whole" you get in the sound, which is called "roomtone".

01:20, remove that SFX...it doesn't fit... and it's about 4 frames to late....
01:27, same here....and about 3 frames to late

01:33 this one can stay, but if you add some reverb to make it more "roomy" it will fit better. And this one is 2 frames to early
01:36, also a few frames to early

And also, make those SFX mono, so it comes out of the middle as it came out of the picture.

01:42, the closing of the cabinet.... There I miss a SFX of "closing the cabinet"

01:55 the "sipping" is it real or added after ?

02:08 this SFX also can be much louder.

02:20, same again...can be much louder.

02:17, boom in frame (the windjammer/rycote), under in screen... at 02:25 again and now following the girl to the right.

03:11, "come here" sounds of mic... Because the guy is walking forward, so the boomguy had to anticipate on this and move the boom also (or do a stap backwards, anyway that the mic always is in front of the face and not in the back).

The acting is a little weak.... It's like I'm watching CSI :-p

So in general to improve: dare to make SFX louder, during shooting a good boomguy is important who follows the direction people speak

Thanks so much for the input. Really it helps a lot. The acting is of course weak because we are just friends making videos. None of us are professionals. And "Joe" the salesman is very nervous in front of cameras haha but we've been trying to coach him. At 2:25 that isn't the boom, its a glossy table top with her reflection on it. The sipping is fake. I agree, the sfx do need to be louder and more on time. And if I would have taken more time with them I could have found some more realistic sounds.

In a movie (hollywood movie, that one which you need to have popcorn with :-p) if there are a few cars, you will hear "cars, street environment".
But when a certain car is very important (mostly a bigger car, or van), wel that car will sound a little "louder" and will have a little more "extra".
The viewer will not say "héé, that car has a little extra in sound", but unwanted they will notice that car.

If that car would sound as the others, well then it would be less "suspens" if the car exploded after.
