Baseplate / Rods on airplane

Traveling with AF100 tomorrow... but hoping to keep checked baggage to a minimum.... anybody taken a baseplate / rods on the plane, broken down in properly sized bag?

thanks,

Ive taken a few different types of baseplate in carry on, but never rods as I dont have confidence they would allow it.

I used to fly with my HPX500 onboard with Rods. Of course it was in a camera bag. But yeah that big ol thing went with me wherever I went for about 3 years.

My baseplate & rods attached to AF100 in a carry-on has logged nearly 50k air miles this year to Asia, Europe & US. Last week I transited Logan, LaGuardia, Newark, & San Francisco without a peep.
