Basatne electronics?

Gray market simply means it's imported from another region and doesn't come with a Canon warranty. I've only ever done this once and got burned on the sellers warranty when the item was defective and they never returned it to me after sending it in for repairs. It wasn't with this particular store but was another one in Canada, and being in the US the laws were to complicated to really do much about it.

yeah, because of that think its safer to go with BH, notice they have a $200 off offer. Also curious how they can offer such an inexpensive accidental warranty

Hey, just jumping in on this from Basatne - I realize the thread is a couple months old but Google just sent me the alert for it. We've negotiated the BasatnePlus warranty as a standard for all of our products, and because we are warrantying so many things it costs us less and we pass the savings on to you. As for the accidental warranty, it's simply an extension of the warranty we already pay for which is why it is relatively inexpensive. Our warranties are through the same provider as the big box guys. You can read the warranty details on our website.

As for the grey market question above, C Lehmann is correct. What it means is we purchase the products from the manufacturer or their authorized distributors in different markets around the world, and by doing this we are often able to get a great price. We also wholesale these products to some of the other online electronics stores online. You can read about why we sell imported electronics on our website.

Hope this sheds a little light.
