100 Dollars for a book that covers how to use a 6,000 dollar camera. Your learning curve will be much longer without it.

But, to each his own.
 
Hey, a note to all our members north of the border in Canada: the HVX Book is now available for order by all authorized Canada Panasonic HVX200 resellers. This means two good things: you can get it much faster, and pay no shipping or import duties.

Sending to Canada has always been a bit frustrating for us and for the customer because the US Postal Service Global "Priority" Mail system seems to want to take 14 to 18 days to deliver to Canada(!) It makes no sense, because customers in Germany report receiving their orders in as few as 4 days, so I don't know if the trucks get lost driving north of Minnesota or what... :)

So now Canadian customers can walk into (or order direct from) your local HVX authorized reseller and get it the same day, and not have to pay any customs or import duties.
 
Just curious, I have a friend who just purchased an HVX, I think it arrives tomorrow.
Is the free book deal still going?

The camera is actually quite complicated with all the formats and such.

I kind of thought the same about the price, but when I recieved the book it was obviously a must have.
 
Barry ... is there any chance the HVX book will be on CD? I wouldn't mind having it on my laptop as a reference.

I got the hard copy yesterday ... lots of good info ... good job

Of course I mean a data CD .... not audio (although listening to Merrel Streep read it might be interesting) :)

I registered for the Panasonic rebate back in the middle of May, but I have yet to receive the book.

Has anyone received the book from Panasonic yet? Does anyone know the expected date when this might start happening?
 
Purchased camera back in May. I still have not received my book from Panasonic. Two months have gone by since my last post, and there are zero posts of anyone saying they received the book from Panasonic.

Also, Panasonics "rebate hotline" at 866-339-4296 is not answered by a live person and you can only leave a voice message. Clearly, their hotline is getting swamped.

So when you registered di you send in your invoice? Could be that they are sitting there waiting for your invoice. Thanks to Sarbanes-Oxley, once we hit a price point we need an invoice for the documentation. You should really leave an effective message as they do return phone calls but leave an effective message, who you are, spell if needed, serial number, claim number, your phone number. They will call you baqck with details.

No Long Delays Getting Book

After reading this thread initially in August, I thought I was in for a long wait for the Panasonic rebate items, including the HVX book. But, it arrived this past Monday, Nov 5.

So, just want to pass along that I mailed in the rebate form, invoice and the other required items, around Sept. 10. Called Panasonic rebate center around Oct 26, got a live person, not a recording, and he confirmed my rebate was in the system and would ship in about two weeks pending one more rebate item that wasn't in stock. In my case, the total wait is barely two months.

The key to rebates is to turn in everything listed on the form and if there's a postmark deadline, don't miss it.

As for the book, I've only read the first 30 pages so far, but have gained a tremendous amount of information. No doubt, it's a must have.
