Well, the differences are that the 100b version covers all the models. The earlier version obviously doesn't cover the 100b. And, the earlier version is long since out of print.
The newest version covers the 100 and 100A, and adds coverage of the 100B.
THanks for that, I just bought a 100b cam and was going to buy the book online but it didn't show 100b on the cover. Can anyone tell me if the dvd is essential or is everything you need in the book.
Thanks
John
Hi Barry,
I put this question out there the other day and was told I should ask you directly,
I just bought a DVX100b PAL, and I recently shot a historical renactment event at 50i, and after reading your rather excellent book it was unclear what speed to reduce the footage to for slo-mo effect. It does mention the precentage for 60i for those in NTSC land.
So, using Sony vegas what would the best settings be? I set the project setting to 25P PAL but slowing down any of the 50i footage to different speeds still results in a fair bit of judder. I should mention I negleted to bring the shutter speed up to 100 or so on the day which according to the book it seems best to reduce motion blur (well at least its to be 1/120 when shooting 60i so I assume its 1/100 at 50i). Have I over looked something in the book? If you had any advice I would be very greatful.
use the search function and you'll find lots of threads here on how to get the best slow-mo effect on the dvx.
I find it best to use the plugin called twixter but if don't want to spend the money just search on this forum.
smettli had some great slow-mo footage shot with the dvx and it was a free method he used.
I remember asking how he did it but I totally forgot as time past.....
THanks barry and ryvac I did figure it out yesterday, my project was set to 25i instead of 25p and when I corrected it the slow mo came out great at 50 percent. THanks again gents
