Banding in low light

Hi all

Just got my GH1

when shooting in low light there are banding lines, specially in the LCD screen, and sometimes in the footage also.

is it normal in low light?

It's normal when significantly under-exposed. Do a search, huge thread on it.

Can someone direct me please?
What will be the best key word to search - I search for gh1 banding and didn't find huge thread.

But if this is a normal behavior than I am cool with it, just worried that its kind of a problem (I am coming from D300)

You see the banding when poorly lit and on flat surfaces. ISO settings does not matter really but the more you juice up the ISO the more apparent it becomes. It's a CMOS pattern which is pretty bad on the GH1.

But if your main subject is properly lit and the background ain't flat it's seldom a problem.
