The RODE blimp can accept mics up to 12", or 325mm, it's pretty much a medium size blimp for all the shorter shotguns. Rycote makes 8 sizes and should take care of the longer mics.

It looks like it just attaches to a boom pole. Is this correct?

Yes, that is correct. There is a 3/8" female thread at the base of the pistol grip for attaching to a standard boom pole. Or you can hand hold the pistol grip.

The feedback on these has been pretty amazing. Some have said that it is heavier than the $800 Sennheiser MZS20-1/MZW60-1/MZH60-1 set-up. Well, I weighed them both and the difference is just 2 oz! I think I can deal with the 2 oz for a savings of over $500!
