I was working diligently with MattinSTL behind the scenes to get us a great group deal and although that initial deal was not able to transpire, this official lower price is better for everyone in the long run. Speaking of Matt, I'd like to give him big props for his persistence and vision in attempting to get these into the hands of everyone. Without his dedication in making things happen, it would have went no where. This is just awesome and really shows that we have a strong community here. It's really something to be very proud of! :beer:

Excellent!..... I wrote them a email last week about the group buy, maybe they got it! I was about to push a group buy for a K-Tek.

I didn't expect this one coming, but right in my face! Huy and I were chatting about the group buy and felt a little disappointed regarding the drop out. No fear. Then Guy announces this with Matt as his support, magic.
 
Don't take any credit away from Guy and give it to me... he is doing a lot to make this stuff happen!

What originally got me excited about Sound Room and Oktava was that Paul, at the Sound Room... was a very good listener. He was receptive to input and ideas, and he then took that input to Oktava to make things happen.

Guy is very much that same kind of person... and while WE have a voice, Guy has the actual connection and the ability to be heard specifically. If anything, I'd say we're the "congress" as a whole... and he is our ambassador (or "president"... if you will).

Hey as long as we can have some influence on these things, I'm thrilled. There's no "me"... only "we".

$299 shipped isn't that far from $240 shipped (what's $59?) and frankly... we only had 23 SOLID commitments when the thread died... so we were a long way from the lower tier anyway... and as I said REPEATEDLY in that thread... when it comes to a group... you gotta' over-sell anyway, because there's a huge difference in saying you will do something... and actually doing it. So in the end... we were probably at a solid 18-20... we may not have even reached the 50 by Thanksgiving.

As it stands... we can each buy directly... and there's no pressure of the group deadline. All things considered I think all's well that end's well.

Just to set the record straight, as the "lovefest" over the Røde blimp seemed to be saying "here is a blimp as good as a Rycote at half the price".

Is it as good - no, it's not; is it good value for money - yes it is (as I did say before).

the efforts of GUY & MATT and have ordered the RODE from GUY!

Lets stop "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" and buy from Guy or move on to

No I wasn't giving all credits to you Matt. Just saying that you approached to Guy and he listened, contacted Rode about the group deal and things went a little awry.
 
Hate to sound like a total newb here, but after checking this out I am curious how it would attach to a boom pole. Through the handle? Or would it connect where the handle does?

I downloaded the manual, but I couldn't find an answer there. I'll get one regardless, but I'm just curious.

What???? No t-shirt? Forget it, then! It was only a good deal when a t-shirt came with it. LOL! I'll be ordering mine next week from Guy. I spoke briefly on the phone with him tonight, seems very down to earth.
