MUSIC VIDEO: Bali, indonesia swimwear shoot sony fs700

Still shooting with the Sony FS700 and editing with Final Cut Pro X now. Colour grading in program isn't as smooth compared to Magic Bullet Looks.

Does anyone use Final Cut Pro X and have particular colour grading workflows?

Any critique / comments are welcome. All the best!

Hey,

Cool stuff. I'm going to resist the obvious comment on the excelent choice of talents :). Slowmo looks good and tends to mask the motion cadence of the Sony cameras (which I don't like but a lot of people swear by them). I think you were struggling a bit to get the sky on proper exposure without underexposing the two models. What is the DR on that camera? Have you tried Davinci Resolve to grade? It's pretty much industry standard and it's free.

But I enjoyed it! Which lenses did you use?

Hi,

Thanks for your time. I have not tried DR will check it out. The sun in Bali is really intense, the magic hour is tiny. And you're right was a mission, especially on a white beach with white cliffs surrounding it. And also the bounce off the water.

I use a Sigma 24-70. Which again doesn't give the greatest image in the highlights. I've toyed with an external recorder, but find shooting straight to card is the pragmatic and gives me an image I'm happy enough with.

Will definitely check out the workflow between Final Cut X & DV. I've worked with DV on other people's systems a little bit. And yeah, looks great and intuitive. Thanks very much!
