Bag Harness recommendation

Sitting here nursing a seriously strained back from what I originally thought would be an easy-breezy shoot, I've come to the realization that a bag harness has moved to the top of my list. My calendar is full for May and June and I'm going to been some back help to get thru it.

Can anyone make a recommendation regarding a bag harness? Perhaps even something with a brace. The budget is pretty wide open on this.

Thanks.

I've been extremely happy with my Versa-Flex. Then again, when I'm doing one-man-band gigs, I try to bring the smallest rig possible. Can replace many joints in our body, but the back ain't one of them.

Makers of audio bags generally have harness systems available. I have a Porta Brace harness system for my bag and it's great. Just be sure what you get has both shoulder straps and a belt. That helps with the weight dispersion, and with stability in motion.

My first field gig (that wasn't out of a truck) was a 14-hour day hiking in the mountains. I had nothing but the shoulder strap for my bag. Lesson learned quickly on that one: I couldn't move my left shoulder the next day.

You'll be glad you did, Chad. It took me only that one shoot to decide to buy a harness.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody. I've just ordered the Porta Brace AH-3H-MEMM from Trew. It should arrive tomorrow. Just in time for my nearly full May and June calendar. I'll report back after a few days of using it.

I have a 1st generation VersaFlex (pretty close to the one above)
All in all I'm pretty happy with it.

If I would ever buy another versaflex though I would personally probably get the 2.5" wide version rather than the 4.
The 4" is decently bulky, although thats probably exactly why it works so well. They also have a breathable version
which would be my choice for obvious reasons.

Ive never used the lower waist strap but note that it doesn't support the weight from there, but is used to keep
the gear close to your body.

Anyone use a petrol harness on a porta brace bag and vice versa? I think it would be great to have a harness but when looking for used stuff, I can't be as picky! Thanks.
