Bad XLR Input 1

Input 1 seems to be dead now. I have all the switches correct (mic v. line, channel 1 on Input 1, phantom power off for a powered mic, etc.), but I’m getting nothing.

I’m getting ready to start the process of extended warranty service, but before I deal with that hassle, I thought I’d check to see if I’m missing something (which I believe I’m not). Hope against hope, I’m sure, but why not take a few seconds to ask if anyone had a similar problem and fixed it?

Re: Bad XLR Input 1

Do you have access to a dynamic mic you can test it with? Dynamics don't draw any power, so that should help you narrow down whether it's a power issue or not...

Re: Bad XLR Input 1

What about the cable David ? - and have you tried same cable+mic on XLR2 ?  Assuming it works on input2 then plug back into input1 then input2 then input1 again  just to make sure.  Check you can see clean contacts down XLR socket - no corrosion or bits of 'cling film' (I've had that B4 from some mystery source !) Also have you tried "CH1 SELECT" set to input2 to check if ch1's ok - Try a Line level input to both input 1+2 (available from your REC OUT on the HiFi)
I hope you get it going again buddy,  It's a bummer when good kit goes bad - you have my sympathy.

Hmmm. I didn't check for dirt in the contacts. Never occurred to me. I strongly doubt that's the case -- but worth looking at. Thanks!
