I do this series called "Trumpet the Complimentary Dinopup"

I did it long before I knew of 'Triumph the Insult Comic Dog' but once I knew about him I pretty much gave up insisting that my character was original and I actually told people I created it as a parody.

Anyway, it's quite a pain in the but to do it correctly, it's a really small puppet that looks a lot bigger than it is because of depth perspective and how I frame it. I work it while working the camera and doing the voice live with a headset, I didn't want to have to dub whatever stuff I came up with I improv live in various situations that are very much unscripted by I have a general outline of where I want them to go.

I am trying to re-rig this to work with a GH1 and a ZOOM h4n... your thoughts?
I am worried that the jello vision won't be able to take it... would going with a cheapo small hd cam be better? I actually had some network interest in this..

that is alot of shaking going on.

I think you could pull it off if you mounted the gh1 to some type of simple one handed shoulder rig with a handle to eliminate the jello. something as simple as a diy extended L bracket with padding.
 
Yeah it's shake hell I know.. it was just me with a puppet trying to do too much at once and none of it is planned... luckily at SD resolutions it's not a big deal... but it wouldn't work at HD resolutions shake is magnified so much and that is what I am trying to figure out

So it's exactly the same concept right down to the accent, yet you made it up before Triumph?

I seriously did just make that up.... that was the voice that came out of my head when I picked up that puppet... believe me I am big on not stealing peoples stuff as I did stand up for a while...

But I realized... this guy had it famous... so I was screwed,,, thats when I change dit to Trumpet the Complimentary dinopup... as parody... I just called him Trumpet the dinopup and I had been doing it for years since when I was a kid... things like that happen all the time...


and the voice is a little different... I am kind of more mexican...

Also, smegal didn't exactly get that idea himself either, there are a bunch of 'man on the stree' harassing comical puppet things that just weren't friends with conan so you don't know them.
 
I don't care if it's a rip-off or not...it's FUNNY!!! I actually hung in there for a bit- the race with Doris had me crackin' up!!

That was pretty funny man :)

I'd say get yourself another team member to operate the camera and you could use a GH1 no problem. Wouldn't try it solo though. GH1 controls are not as friendly as a handicam for one handed operation.
 
lol I hope you're being sarcastic cuz I don't buy the originality of it one bit either. no way man. Either way, it's still funny.
 
At this point - NOW, I rip on triumph and make it as parody... what I am saying is when I first did it, I did not, and I hadn't even known of triumph. I do a lot of wacky puppet stuff.. all just amateur joking around at them time but now I am trying to do some higher end pro productions with the same characters:

That's great stuff- What would've been great is if you pulled one of these guys out at your dreaded 'runway shoot' they would've stolen the show!!

ohh blackout. you gotta come up with something more original. i mean it's almost there. but using cats as food....that's ALF man, can't take from ALF. And you definitely didn't come up with that before ALF.

As to the alien thing - cats are not his food, cats are their transportation source... kittens are their food. Hence the slight problem with public transportation.

Yeah I have issues cause i try to do everything at the same time myself. I am getting a few people together of higher - planned and higher end work with 1080 24p.. and in this one I will be stealing material - I am actually making a parody movie spoof that is a sequel to the Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and Purple Rain... but... in one.. lol:

Sorta like a Scary Movie kind of thing, but making fun of 80s cheese.

Man! tough crowd! See my comment above on the nature of the cats.... he EATS kittens, he uses CATS as transportation.. hence why he has a problem getting around. anyway....

Ok here is some totally bad video (shot by a chic I was dating at the time ) that is a funny idea.. at least i thought so at the time....

I was joking around with her and she grabbed the video camera, and i ended up editing it into something, so do not blame any of the bad camera work on me!
