Bad time to buy a HPX170?

Guess what? The HPX-171 is already out. That is the camera you want for your country. The HPX-171 shoots in PAL compared to the HPX-170 that shoots in NTSC.

Add that to the big list of things you do not know.

Next HPX170 will be an "A" (170A) unless they decide to make a major change, then it could be any letter/number combo.

I'm partial to AG-HLL666, nicknamed the Satan cam. Handheld full raster 1080P 2/3 CCD AVC-I P2 cam :)

Rebates and promotions vary by country. The $500 is a US rebate -- the European division of Panasonic might offer a like rebate, or something completely different, or perhaps nothing at all. I would recommend checking the Panasonic website for Sweden and their page on the AG-HPX171 (PAL / European model), promotions are usually listed online.
