Bad news: Pansonic DVX Rebate Delays

For me, they have completely negated the value of any future rebate programs. They will not fool me twice.

I didn't need the check badly, but I could see where someone is stretching to buy the camera and borrows the rebate money $500 from a family member or friend or upcoming budget item, assuming they can pay it back in a few weeks. Then the check doesn't come for 10 weeks or more and causes strains on the friendship or family.

But I DO need another battery. I have the original and one 5000 MaH DVXuser battery. But I need a third one. If I go out and buy one for upcoming project, I will NOT need a fourth one. It just pisses me off more every day, especially since people who bought their cameras a month or more after I did already have their battery in hand. And even worse, ordering a battery from Jarred usually takes 3-4 weeks, so its not like I can just wait until the last minute for my next all day project.

Why do I keep visiting these threads?
 
I don't think that "**** happens" is and adequate defense for an international conglomerate that makes a promise, and therefore a commitment to its customers and fails to live up to it. I don't think the DVX100A is a sacrosanct religious object whose manufacturer should be defended for their failings because they created such a "great" product. I believe in basics like keeping your word to your customer and doing so in a timely manner. If you have a problem with supply either change source or change the program.
 
If you're in the US, you can get Jarred's batteries almost immediately. EVS now carries them. I think they charge a little more, but when you factor in the shipping from Canada, it probably works out the same (except that you can count on same-day shipping and no delays due to customs or international post offices, etc).
 
ok so i buaght the amazing dvx 100a w/300 rebate waitied andd waited thenmy check came in (handy for that dvx bill)then i heard the expended acceries rebate whould take a while longer (4-5)after 4-6 weeks for my check so i waited and waited -im suppoesed to get my new dvm63 minute tapes and 5400mah batterie(very usfull stuff)so i waited and waited -and i waited and waited for like 4 ever!!the posting on dvx user was like"panasonic is lagging and laging -so i waited and waited then i got unpaishent and started inspecting the mail boxes in my area i thought i was being fruadulated!!a theif a fandangler!!!but i im just inpashant and im down to last tape from the cam buy SO I STOPPED WORRIENG ABOUT IT!! AND TADA!!THERE HERE!!!THEY SENT THREE DAY SELECT I GOT MY BATTEREIS AND TAPES YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's how to get your rebate tapes and battery:

1. Call Rush and order 10 tapes and a battery.
2. Go home and find UPS delivery notice from Panasonic on your front door!

5/25/05 Bought camera
5/28/05 Registered for rebate on website
7/20/05 Got check in mail.
9/14/05 Tapes and battery.
 
What I dont understand is when I go to their site the check was cut one week after I submitted for it. Why sit on the check?
