Bad news, anybody else had this?

I just got home from Panasonic in L.A.. I had error messages, two separate ones. i was trying (had done this before) to set up an over crank shot on my brand spanking new HVX. I set the frame rate 60 frames, the recording setup of 720p 30p and was attempting to set the shutter to 180 when the screen went blue and red letters flashed
P2 ram error! I had to turn the camera off to reset. I then went through the process again and again everything worked until we started recording, then the screen went blue again with a different error, micron P2 overload. The tech's at Panasonic had never seen this before either. Has anyone seen this before?
Well my new baby is at Panasonic this weekend and I'm bummed.......

Sounds odd, never had it happen to me. When you go to pick up your camera, do the same mauever while you are still there, to see if you can recreate the problem.

Best,

Mmmm... you weren't doing 4 story box falls with it were you?

Jarred,
Nope, wanted to but had the error first..... A related deal was this, Panasonic was great about taking care of it except for this.....the tech said come right over we'll take a look. I did and walked in, the tech walked out, grabbed the camera. I cooled my heels for about an hour. He walked back out and said we can't duplicate the problem, I said, Geez if you had asked me when I walked in, we could have saved an hour. He was pretty much of a jerk. He treated me like i was totally ignorant until he wanted me to replicate the problem, which I did in about 30 seconds.
Meantime, they have the camera and I won't deal with that tech again. When I asked if I should call on Monday, he said, we will email you or maybe give you a call.
I will be talking with his supervisor on Monday, trust me.....

Panasonic in L.A. on Cahuenga. Their major repair facility. And it was their tech. I had my dvx's there also. I had a client with me and he actually commented on what an a--hole the tech was.

not good man.. not good. guy musta had a bad day. I would write a letter to them to let them know if you feel like taking the time. There are of course 2 sides to every story , but assuming you are being straight its not good press for the techs out there.

regardless of that.. hope you get your camera fixed.. definately sounds like some wierd glitch that i have never seen before and its not normal. They are usually pretty good at handling those situations.

Jarred,
Up to now, i have had great service from Panasonic and probably will on this also. I had two dvx100a's and after about 20 hours on one of them had a problem with not being able to view footage. This happened at about 20 hours, they cleaned it and I had the same problem after about 15 more hours. They replaced the heads no questions asked and I never ever had a problem again.
I suspect that the same will happen with this problem also. The good thing is that I asked if they needed a proof of purchase and they said "no, anybody that comes in with an HVX just got it."
I think that that is also why I could walk in and they wanted to fix it immediately.
One experience with a tech like that can be forgiven, especially if I get my "baby" back soon.
Wouln't you know it , I got a call to shoot some footage for a company next week. I had to postpone until I hear something. A friend of mine has always said, "Whatever piece of equipment you have, if it is a crucial piece, you need to have two of". I wish I could afford two cameras, but not right at the moment.
