pretty much makes it unuseable for video in flared backlit shooting. and I do a lot of those. I dont understand..are they not paying their QC staff enough money?

Well....at least that's a flagrant failure. Any camera displaying that should be immediately replaced by Nikon or the dealer.

I have been following the discussion on Dpreview since the problem surfaced, it seem that a lot of camera can exibit the same problem, there are example from Canon and I remember some Sony nex camera. I myself was intending of buying now, it does cause some concern but more for photo than video because the mirror has to be up and either in liveview or video that you can see it as it occurs at very specific degrees when the light source is just out of the frame, and you can just pan a little down or up for it to vanish.

Remember that the first Canon 5D MKIIIs had the same issue. Once they sort it out the D750 will be a great camera.

@Danielvilliers was looking to get this for video and the video about posted shows it in video mode. was looking to get this for work to shoot video in the summer wedding season. crap now I need to wait and see. and of course nikon wont say a word.
