Bad headphone jack on HVX

I was on a shoot the other day, and I noticed the audio kept dropping out in my headphones. At first I thought it was just the headphones or dead batteries, but after checking a couple different sets, I know it's my HVX's jack.

Seems that if there's pressure pulling the headphone cord towards the operator, I lose my connection. If I jiggle it around or gently push it away from me, I get my sound back.

Has anyone had this problem before and what's the best place in LA to take my camera in to get looked at? I bought it in August, so is it still under warranty and can I just trade it for a new one ? (I'll check the manual and warranty, but I just wanted to throw that out now while I'm typing).

Thanks.

Surjones : i believe it is not the same problem he has as mentioned your link. He just has a bad connectior. Probably the connector to the headphone is not good which is very commen with inexpensive headphones.

I'm 99% it's a bad jack on the HVX. I can't imagine what I did that would knock it loose, though. It's my baby and I take excellent care of it. My $250 ipod, on the other hand, has sustained drops, throws to the back seat, getting stuffed in my back pack, and lots of headphone plugging and unplugging and I've never damaged it.

I'm calling around to see if there's a Panny service center in LA. Hopefully it's not too expensive a fix.

Okay, here is another one I pulled from the search. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=76009&highlight=headphone+jack

It is better to keep all info pertaining to a certain issue in one thread. That way When people do search they an find the info they need.

If I can recommend the Cadillac of Audio Monitoring. BeyerDynamic DT880 Headpones, only 200 bucks, and they are 100% perfect.

Cables on headphones get frayed threads inside the cable next to the plugs on these mini jacks a LOT. Try a different set of headphones before doing anything else.
