Bad Back - Great Chair

I spend all day programming/surfing the net and at night I'm usually back on the computer, screenwriting or working on one of my films.

Recently my back has started to protest. As a last resort, I switched to one of those kneeling chairs and I really love it. I've been using it for 2 months now and it is the best chair I ever had.

Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone else is in the same boat, but I thought I would recommend it. This is the chair I got. It's not cheap, but if your back is unhappy it might be worth it.

I was actually just talking to someone about this yesterday.

They really work? And your legs don't hurt alot?

Do you have one at work and home? And, is it easy to get out of?

At work, I sit in your typical office chair. No "funky" chairs are allowed.

All I can say is it really works for me. I tried one of the cheap versions in a Staples, and was unimpressed, but this Balans chair feels rock solid (and my legs feel fine). It takes a week or so to get used to, but now I can't believe I haven't been using one for years.

Having hurt my lower back playing rugby, there is one true solution to everyone who has back problems - strengthen your core. That's right, sit-ups, crunches, etc. The stronger the core, the more stamina you have. I should know, had a hard time years ago sitting in any chair for a couple of hours.

Strengthen your core, Chris, that will help too.

I had one of those years ago, back in Czechistan before I skipped the ship. Worked great... now, almost twenty years later, my back is ruined, and my core sucks. I want a gaffer job - that's some serious exercise, man!

I play soccer 3 times a week, but as much as I'm in great cardiovascular shape, I'm rapidly destroying all of the joints in my body. I've had both reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery in the last 3 years.

I'm sure you're right though, I'd probably just be better off if I did sit-ups and push-ups every day, but that sounds like too much work. :)

For now at least, the new chair is definitely helping,

Chris

God, Chris, you sound as bad as me, though I've yet to have surgery, I have
a chronic right ankle, right knee, right wrist injury (all due to fencing). A good
chair helps but core strength works in the long run and yeah, I'm off to the gym
today.

$352 for a chair? Yikes.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Hm! She is made of harder stuff! Cardinal Fang! Fetch...THE COMFY CHAIR!

Now -- you will stay in the Comfy Chair until lunch time, with only a cup of coffee at eleven.

Man I have really bad back problems too, and the Aerons have always been perfect for me. No problems whatsoever. I've always wanted to try those knee chairs though.
