I want to backup and HD project I finished for Blueray. Should I encode it as HD DVD, and if I do it doesn't let me change the framerate to 24 only says 60 (well 59.whatever that number is)? Its a wedding video I shot and already put in on SD DVD, but I would like to save the original for later release.:huh:

using FCP

I am assuming you are talking about DVDSP, Once you create a project in SD or HD, you cant select another format. From what I understand. Save the original on hardrive, and to a DVD.

I just dump the original QT file to a hard drive and save it that way. I also save the project file so if I need to make any changes down the road I can do that as well.

I do the same as Kevin, as for back ups go. I dont save the renderfiles etc.. Just the FinalCut project file. and the MXF's. If the file pernits I will save a master QT of hte finished video, and save that to disc 2. The project I am working on now is 54gigs. It only takes 20mins to export another master, so I do it that way.

I know a lot of people say dont work on the Internal HDD, but even using FW800 externals, it doubles your export time. So I export to my desktop.

Actually what I would like to do would be to encode the final video for later release on HD. I have the SD version done and will be giving that to the client. To save space I don't want to save all the footage (MXF files) I have all that now along with my FCP scene file. I just want to encode it and store it that was to save space, but have it if they want it later. Not sure if ya'll understand me I'm trying my best to say what I want to do. Basically when I do start burning Blueray I'll just burn those files (Like m2v and ac3 files for SD DVD's)
Thanks
