Backup design

Dear all,

I look to create a backup for my projects files and budget is an issue. I film with EX1 and shoot only HD.

My initial design is:
drive C: 500 GB - for the OX and programs, and FCP Folders (cache, autosave)
drive D: 2 TB - for FCP folders (capture video, audio, render)
drive E: 2 TB for original media
drive F: back up of original media and back up FC project files.

However, as I short I wonder if I can cut the drive F and use the QuickTime Mov. files as a backup?

THe Mov. files are not compressed and are the same size of the original ones.

Thanks for any input!

You don't need drive F unless you want 3 copies of your data. Drive E has the original data, and drive D has the same data but in Quicktime format. I assume that your FCP project is on drive D (if it's not, then it should be). The autosave makes copies of that to drive C, so you have backup there.

With this setup, if any one disk goes bad, you can still re-create your project from the other two disks.
