Back Focus on DVX-100?

I've got the original DVX-100 (not the A or B) and it seems to have a back focus problem. Should I just shoot a focus chart at the zoom and distance I want (where possible - obviously not possible in all situations) or is there a more elegant way of solving this problem?

I've seen this problem too. Unfortunately there is no way to adjust the back focus yourself.

In any case, I don't rely on the zoom in and focus then zoom out routine. I always end up adjusting wide shot focus by eye.
