B PRESS idea from AF100

"B.Press enables Master Ped. I usually have it at 0 or lower on B.Press but on one test recently I pushed it up to 4 (I think). Master Pedestal effects the blacks really, not the highlights.. The problem was that we were to be out in broad daylight so I thought I'd increase the Master Ped to bring some more detail into the blacks which can look more crushed in B.Press. So this enabled me to stop down, which was actually what was enabling good exposure on the highlights, while still getting better detail in the blacks. I think... ;)"

I copied this from a thread in the AF100 section. Does this idea also apply to using an HMC150? Seems like a good idea.

I tried it with both my AF100 and HMC150. The HMC is just so dang noisy comparatively that lifting the black levels gets ugly quick... at least that was my experience. Try it and see for yourself if it's workable.

I would not have tried this unless it was outside in broad daylight, and even then there was evidence of noise in the blacks, but it was acceptable to get any detail in harsh conditions. If you saw the grabs from that other thread, then you can see the results.

It was a test with the AF100. I DP'd the short and wound up shooting with a Scarlet to mitigate the problem of highlight handling and DR.
