B+H Way overpriced

I bought most of my stuff and my camera from B&H-good service, reliable, etc. But wow, now as I look at some other authorized dealers, some of B&H's prices are way higher.
I want to buy the anamorphic adapter, B&H sells it at $850, Promax however, sells it at $760 abd Studio Exchange sells it at $700. Those are the only other authorized dealers i've looked at so far.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

All in all your' going to find different prices offered by different companies. someplace may charge less than B&H on one item but B&H may charge less on another. I've bought a lot of gear on the net and B&H is by far a great site for competitive prices. I'd far from say that B&H is way of priced. But I do agree that you must make a good search before investing you hard earned cash anywhere

Re: B+H Way overpriced

I gotta agree.. BH is pretty much the base low price out there, anything much lower than them you gotta start worrying. and somehow they get stuff from NY to Vancouver BC in one day everytime I order 2 day service.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

I got my anamorphic from ProMax, great service & great lens. ProMax is an excellent dealer that doesn't get enough press.

That said, B&H is a superb place to order from the web. Their prices are almost always quite competitive with any other legitimate dealer out there, as is EVS. Occasionally B&H is higher on some items, so shopping around is wise, but if you can't take the time and you just order from B&H, you'll never overpay by very much.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

Yeah.. the one reason I buy now and then from BH instead of EVS is because BH has pretty much every damn product in the world on the site, and usually in stock.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

Promax and Studio Exchange aren't authorized dealers that I'm aware of.

B&H, EVS, and J&R are pretty much the only online dealers I do business with. One of them will have the lowest price, and all of them ship very quickly with no hassle.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

ProMax and Studio Exchange are both authorized. I've had dealings with ProMax and I'd say they're right up there with B&H and EVS. Charles McConathy, the owner of the place, is an absolute gem and a very, very, very nice guy.

Haven't had any dealings with Studio Exchange, but Panasonic lists them as authorized.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

Hmmm. Recent? Of course, I didn't bother to check Panasonic's website before I posted, but I don't think they were there the last time I did . . . ?

Re: B+H Way overpriced

Just wanted to drop a line saying that ProMax is authorized by Pana. I bought my dvx over a month ago from them and they are listed on Panny site. Also had a great experience with them. Great dealer, super service good prices. thumbs up. :)

Re: B+H Way overpriced

ProMax is one of the best. And yes, I just checked Studio Exchange within the last couple of weeks and they were listed as authorized.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

We buy some jibs from Promax, good guys, good service...  ;D

Re: B+H Way overpriced

Try Buydig.com. B+H told me not to but from them because they are not authorized Panasonic dealers. I called Panasonic and asked if it mattered if the seller was an authorized Panasonic dealer. They said it didnt matter as long as the camera was a new USA model they would honor the warranty and there are no problems with buying from a dealer who is not a strictly Panasonic authorized dealer. Buydig.com sells DVX100A for 3199.00 free shipping and no tax. Add the Mack 4 year Warranty for 249.00 and its still cheaper than anywhere else I have seen good luck.

Re: B+H Way overpriced

B&H is great! but, Adorama is even better I think. Everytime I do a price search it always seems that Adorama beats B&H in price. I have bought 1000's of $ from these guys and never had any Problems! This time around B&H beat Adorama in price when it came to buying the Formatt Matte Box. Its All Good! ::)
