AXP HD with Radeon 9800XT Pro 256 Megger

I was reading up on AXP Pro HD and part of the FAQ said:

"The Avid Xpress Pro HD product takes advantage of specific Open GL card technology, for example, providing performance enhancements in the Avid editor, specifically for Marquee titling. If you plan to run Avid Xpress Pro HD with the Avid Marquee title and graphic animation feature, then you will need to install a recommended Open GL card in your computer."

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if my ATI Radeon 9800XT Pro grafx card will work ok with these features. So far, no problems.

It's my understanding that Avid only supports Nvidia's implimentation of OpenGL. The software might work with an ATI card, but a lot of the realtime capabilities will be decreased.

Again, this is just want I understand. I'm not speaking from experience. Maybe someone else will chime in with a more solid answer.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. So, for the moment, let's assume this is fact. What would be the nVidia equivalent (or better) to my grafx card?

I wouldn't say that a lot of real time performance goes away. SOme of the effects arfe optimized for nVidea. I would estimate a 20% increase in perofrmance.

Ok, well, that's enough for me to realize that getting a new grafx card is not a priority right now. :)

And something I am noticing about the ATI cards is that when playing back video, there is not a color shift on the image due to the overlay diffrerences as on nVidia.

Color shift? Hmmmm . . . not sure I follow you. Are you saying that the ATI cards actually "look" better than the nVidia cards in that respect? I have Mojo so whatever the case, it's not a big deal for me.

It's on the on the computer screen that you can see the shift with nVidia cards between stop and play.

You mean the difference in color while it's stopped versus playing? I used to see that all the time on my old machine.

Yes, that is what I mean. It is the video overlay gamma not matching the monitor gamma.

Just looking to clarify, cuzz I'm looking into Xpress Pro with Mojo, it WILL still work with my Radeon 9800pro.

Cuzz, correct me if im wrong, the nvidia requirement is a new thing
