Awb abb ng

On my HMC40 occasionally when I am setting the white balance, instead of getting the indicator "AWB ABB OK" I will get "AWB ABB NG." I'm assuming that means "no good," but I have no idea what causes this. It will continue to give me this message if I repeatedly push the white balance button and hold it for the normal cycle. The last time this happened, I just turned off the camera (the WB setting was in "Ach") and turned it back on, then got the expected OK indicator. So what is causing this to happen?

Is the exposure setting fairly close to the final setting? If it is too far under or over, the cam won't white balance. Just a guess.

You might also try using awb, and then shift out to a manual wb.

I see this on my HMC80 when the light level on the white card is too low to get a decent exposure, or sometimes if the camera shakes (goes off the white card) during the white balance process.

Probably, you need to add more light.

Thanks for the tips. I usually set the WB before I worry about exposure, so that's what's probably causing it. I'll reverse the process and see if that takes care of it.
