Nice little short, i felt you had some technical short commings rather than problems.

One, your lighting looked pretty amatuerish (which is fine because like me you may not have had access to actual professional lighting).

Two, your actors were a little flat at times, but again thats just hte nature of working at this level.

My biggest gripe was the cinematography. Way to few edits, not nearly enough angles or close shots, and no camera movement.

The part where this is the worst is when they are playing chess in the club and outside. A few dutch angles, and closeups would have really made watching more interesting. A nice dolly shot across the giant board would have been so pleasing to the eye. But your first shot stays on screen for like 30 secs or more. (remember most film shots are on screen for like 7 seconds).

Obviously you got some recognition for this which is nice. Cool to see another film maker in houston.

Thanks for your comments!

All the things you mentioned have to do with "a less is more" approach in directing
which was a deliberate choice, as this was my first film, done while being in the first term of film school so obviously there were some technical difficulties / shortcomings.

I have to admit though, that for the most people the "one shot" choreography scene has been their most favourite part.

Again, thanks for watching!
