It is finally done. I started shooting "Awake" in the beginning of November of last year, and last night, we finally finished. Well here is the first 1.5 minutes, available for public viewing here on DVXuser.com. Since this film will be enterend in film festivals, I will not have a public viewing of the whole film, but because I value the opinions of you DVXuser members, I will be posting a full version of the film for critique. If you would like to view this full version, private message me, and I will send you a private link to the film, please do not repost this link anywhere else, as I have limited bandwidth and do not want a public viewing, and will be forced to take it down. The film will only be available to the first 50 people that private message me. There are only three requirements for the on line viewing.

First- You need a fast internet connection, be able to play video encoded with the H.264 quicktime 7 format. I will try and keep the file around 100MB as the film is 12 minuets long (any suggestions for encoding are welcome). I will not place a compromised version of the film, as this film is very aurally and visually dependent.

Second- you need to be willing to give me feedback on the film. You can post your feedback here in this thread. I would like to know;
-what you liked
-what you disliked
-what you felt the film was trying to say
-any other constructive criticism is welcome as well. Please don't leave it at, "it was great", or "it sucked", let me know why. I value each and every one of your opinions.

Third- You must promise to play this film loud. :) Casey Wagner, an incredibly talented musician produced some amazing audio accompaniment, and this really adds to the experience of this film.

There will be a DVD copy available for purchase shortly in the future, so if you have a slow internet connection then that would be an option for you (sorry PK) :)

So here is the link to the first 1 1/2 minutes of the film, questions and comments are also welcome for this viewing. Again, this is encoded with the h.264 quicktime 7 codec, and the file size is 34MB. Enjoy, and thanks everybody for the feedback and support that I have received for the last 10 months or so from everybody.

Sorry, I had to take the link down. 10GB of traffic in 3 days really killed my site :) but I appreciate you all for looking. I will have the DVD completed soon, and will let you know when it is available

wow the clip is great..i get video but no sound.....i've always tried to duplicate that shake effect but i just cant seem to do it right in affterfeects....how do u do it so flawlesly

As far as what I've seen, I can tell you put in alot of work into it. It shows, also I notice you have a distinct style, like the photos you posted here and the on the your website. That will definetly set you apart, I'm still trying to find my style, but I think it comes with time. November, wow... how do u feel now since its completed? I really like the scene where hes is in the street with the people passing him (fast motion) and the door opens, you did a good job making the dream surreal. I like how you did the beginning with the clock, very nice transition. actually i like all of it, looking forward to seeing the full version,

so break me off a piece! I don't think you'll have a problem turning heads at the festival.

holla back!

What NLE are you using? I've always love that high speed movement around a person that's standing still or moving slow. Nice look though. I wish you could post just a little more of the story though.

Scharky - I got DSL 2 months ago. It's faster and cheaper than dial-up. No more pity for PK.

Downloading now. Congratulations on finishing your film opus. Can't wait to watch it.

oh...and the first minute and a half as well(!) really like your color correction...i ll pm you when i have time

Wow, I can't beleive you guys, don't you sleep :) I posted this thing at 10:30pm and by midnigt I already had 10 PM's waiting for me, and now I this morning I have 19 total. Wow. I did some playing around with the quicktime codec (it definatly does rock) and got the final size to 75MB @ 400P, and it still looks prety decent, so it's not too bad of a download for a 12 min film. Everyone that Pm'd me, I'll be sending you the link here in just a little bit, once I get this thing uploaded. Thanks you guys for all the enthusiasm, it really makes me feel a little better knowing that the last year of my life wasn't completley in vain for a 12 min film, but I guess you havn't seen the final version yet, so i should keep my mouth shut :)

Oh, and everyone asking technical questions, I am making a list of things that you are asking me, and will be posting answers to all of those questions either later today or tommorow. So keep em coming.
