I'm not saying that people who do that should be banned.
I AM saying that they look like tools. We have a collective personality here, one that we're pretty proud of, and coming in with limited experience but machine guns blazing, announcing that the personality needs changing, is not the best way to introduce yourself.
Some recover nicely from these initial gaffes and become valued and respected members.
Others never quite get it.

I'm not saying that people who do that should be banned.
I AM saying that they look like tools. We have a collective personality here, one that we're pretty proud of, and coming in with limited experience but machine guns blazing, announcing that the personality needs changing, is not the best way to introduce yourself.
Some recover nicely from these initial gaffes and become valued and respected members.
Others never quite get it.

Sometimes I get the feeling that there are some heavy posters around here that it seems were bullied in elementary school, and now they are retaliating on these boards. I see some attitudes against new posters or to irregular posters that is not encouraging, constructive or uplifting. There is definitely some "group think" around here initiated and controlled by some heavy posters that leads to ganging up on people and generally unconstructive replies and discussions.
Just step back for a second and think what 10,000+ posts on an internet message board really means in the scheme of things. It means absolutely nothing. You're not Stephen Spielberg.
I'm just asking that people don't bully people around here. It really comes off as rude, unprofessional and reflects poorly on the real benefits of this board. If you think you can do this as professional in the film industry and get away with it you are wasting your time.

Anyone remember Coltraine
(Said disjecta was only good because of where he lived)
sure he wasn't banned for that but he was banned
The he came back as D.O.C. (death of Coltraine we assume) and had a crusifix as an avatar and was once again banned. Well I know why on that one. He was just going around to everybody's clip posts and giving them letter grades, usually a C+, C-, or a D and Hudson was very patient actually, and everyone explained to him that wasn't very CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, but he kept it up and pissed off so many people that John booted him. What a tool that guy was.
But anyway I thought it would be funnt for some reason to go to Hudson's PEST thread and post as D.O.D.O.C (death of death of Colatraine) and give John a C then EDIT: C-.
I was waiting for him to respond bringing full Christpoher Walkeness on D.O.D.O.C at which point I would Scooby Doo myself and say HAHA that was me in the very next post (I already left him a wellthought out good review).
But then things went horribly wrong:
1) My internet connection got very slow and I couldn't monitor the thread (oh no, people will think some asshole's really dissing John's baby like that) Maybe it was slow because of the Mod's super sleuth spyware that was checking me out?
2) I saw that even thow Hudson's green dot showed he was online, his last activity hadn't been in like 5 hours (oh no, he's not on to respond and people will think some asshole's really dissing John's baby like that)
3)And then, because I connect via my cell phone at work due to a blown ethernet port -- I lost my internet connection altogethter (oh no, my creation now has life of its own!!!)
Finally got back online and saw that Hudson had just nuked the post - CRAP - shoulda known! And know his public profile said he was searching the member directory!!!!!
Oh no! Now it looks like I'm an asshole for real!!!!
Arghhhh!
4) Hudson's inbox was full and he couldn't get my PM!!!!!!!!
Finally got a PM threw to Hudson saying that either I was too much of a wuss to see the prank through or it was in bad judegemnt but either way "It was me! It was me! I didn't mean it, honest!!!"
He PMed me back saying LOL, good one, and that they were already on to me but said he'd seen my name upon sleuthing the matter and was like "WTF". They didn't know it was a prank and as were accusing me of being a fifth columnist!
Anyway, all is good, though my DVXuser life flashed before my eyes briefly.
After laughing it the prank, however, Hudson pointed out that he owed me one...
... now I don't sleep so good

I couldn't agree more. I think sometimes certain people's menstrual cycles here are in-synch and all at once they just look for a newbie to prey on. Oftentimes it is warranted, other times however completely uncalled for.natob2 said:

just like jubal alluded to.. this place doesnt need shaking up... it needs valid contribution. it doenst need your "im the best" attitude or your "your all just in a cult" sucker punches.
so just chill out and soak in the data.. soak in the talent.. soak in the knowledge.. and definitely soak in the community. cause if your being loud mouthed.. eventually someone is going to ask you to show them your invitation before they show you the door.. you dont go to someone elses house and "shake things up" unless you actually know the people there. stick around for a while and perhaps they will understand you getting a little wild... anyway.
