Avid's New AMA Expained

I found a great article HERE that explains Avid's new AMA (Avid Media Access) feature. So for those of us working with P2, XDCam and XDCam EX this might just be what you need to read to get up to speed!
 
Had an odd problem with AMA on Friday. I needed to rebuild a project off P2 done about 18 months ago (Avid 3.0 at the time). When I brought the footage in off a portable USB drive, AMA kicked in and instantly brought the footage off the virtual drive into the bin. I could play/scrub no worries. But I could not get the Sequence to relink the footage no matter what I tried. I spoke to avid tech support who worked with me for about an hour. The tech later called back and suggested that one of his coworkers had an idea. Turn off AMA (Which brings you back to the workflow we used previously). Then I had to bring the clips to bin with the sequence in it, load media, and everything relinked fine.
 
I have noticed interplay sometimes shows media offline when it's relinked. I open dynamic from settings, do nothing and close the menu and it's all happy again.

go figure.
