Avid workflow issues and the HVX

Last night I spent some time working with HVX files and AVID and it is very cumbersome.

You have to copy the files (audio and video) from the P2 to the avid media files dir and then use the media tool to import.

This is cumbersome especially if you want to offline at a lower resolution - in fact I dont even know how you would do this.

Questions are:

- anyone figure out another way to do this in avid?
- will avid release an update that will allow direct import of MXF files like any other files?

I think you are going to be happy with Avid's offerings come NAB. Looking forward to April!

I agree, we have a new, really expensive AVID Nitris Symphony and having to convert the DVCPro HD media to DNxHD is a PITA. I really expected better support from a $90,000.00 piece of gear.

Best,

Dan

I thought Barry has been saying that the Avid can read the MXF files directly off the P2 -- that it is actually easier to use Avid than FCP because it does not require the translation to Quicktime.
