Here is the story, about 6 months ago i decided to build a new computer system to run Avid Xpress Pro HD (P4 HT 3.0ghz, 2 gig ram) when the system was all put together and ready to go i noticed that the onboard sound on my ASUS motherboard would not play any sound through the right channel but it wasent worth sending back because i was just gonna install an E-MU 0404 to take its place. Well much to my suprise that soundcard is not compatable with Avid so i piped over the sound from my new computer to my old computer via fiberoptic cable and was using that and getting both channels but for some reason it was very staticy, so i recently decided to run and buy an inexpensive soundblaster live 24bit card because i was told by many people that they worked with avid and just as they said it worked great on the project i currenly was working on. Well a couple days ago i switched on the computer and was all ready to start a new project but avid decided i would not capture from my deck. so i played with it for a while and no go. so i dedcided to try to capture using Premiere which captured but was dropping frames like mad! SO thinking it might be a bad firewire cable (I rolled over it with my desk chair) i went and purchased a new one. But of course same thing. So i hooked everything up to my old computer and everything worked like a charm. So i realized the only major thing i changed was the soundcard, so i deactivated the new card reactivated the onboard audio and both NLE's decided to capture just fine. So for now i am caturing with the onboard active and editing with the soundblaster active wich is a major pain. Any ideas as to why this might be occuring and how to change it i have tried every combination I can think of and uninstalled and reinstalled drivers but to no avail and i cant think of any reason the new card would cause my NLE's to drop frames.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
