AVID video card issue..

I recently bought version 5.2.

I'm having an odd problem with my Quadro FX1300 video card.
Right now, I am only using one monitor (Dell 2405). I do plan on using two Dell 2405s.

First, I tried using NVIDIA's latest driver 81.67.
AVID will not play the video in the preview window. It scrolls and the sound works, but the video is still. I can move the scroll and scrub the video, but it freezes when played?

Well, I rolled back the video driver to version 77.56, and it works.
But now I see another problem...
When the video is played and in motion it goes a liitle dark, but when you pause the frame it brightens back to normal. It's almost like the overlay is shifting gama to the dark side a bit when played, but returns back when the video is paused or stopped?

Please help! I am not using Mojo. I don't plan on buying it.

Also, I'm starting to wonder about the FX1300. The video, every now and then, appears to tear a bit when played. Almost like it can't keep up.

I am using a decent system (new) with Intel Petium 4 / 3.4GHZ w/2GB RAM and SATA drives.

Can anyone suggest a real fast bargain video board compatible with AVID and capable of using two DVI monitors, one for edit the other for video.

First of all your Quadro card is probably what you should stick with as far as Avid is concerned. Now, the Avid approved Nvidia driver is actually 67.22, which may account for the tearing issue you describe.

But that doesn't account for the light dark issue that you have. That's called Video Overlay. In your Nvidia settings, make these changes.

Brightness = 118
Contrast = 110
Hue = 0 (Default)
Saturation = 100%
Gamma = 1.00 (Default)
Image sharpening far left (Default)

"Apply Color Changes To" = Overlay/VMR

That might not be exact, but it will be close enough that you can tweak it for your needs. When applying these settings you won't see any changes on the monitor because these settings are for playing video only (hence why it's a problem when using Avid.)

Hope that helps.
