Avid starts and then pow!

I've been using 5.2 for about a month now when today I clicked in the icon, the program booted up and just when it gets to the last startup screen it just disappears and pops back to my desktop. I've tried it over and over, after reboot etc. It still does it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Mine did that at one point and then I realized it was a problem with the dongle.
(I've since switched to FCP though...so for all I know Avid is now dongle-free)
 
The use of the word "pow" is never a good sign when describing the behavior of any program!

Have you tried to reinstall the application?
 
After a lengthy troubleshooting session and a call to AVID I found out that it was caused by my upgrading to Quicktime 7. I had to delete it, download, and reinstall 6.5.2 Beware of upgrading your Quicktime. It's all good now. Thank you all for your help.
 
Ironically, Avid just released a new version of Xpress Pro today that supports QT7. Ain't that the way it goes?
