Avid Question from FCP user

A friend of mine has this question:

If your Avid hard drive, containing the P2 unwrapped media clips went bad, however you still had backups of the original MXF files and a back up of your edited project file. Would you be able to unwrap the MXF files and relink the clips to your edited Avid project file? What about if you had media managed the project down to just the edit and 1 second handles?

Thank you in advance.

Avid doesn't edit unwrapped and rewrapped MXF files the way FCP does. It edits the MXF files natively. So if you have a backup then you'd just need to restore it. No unwrapping necessary.
