Trying to import audio to the channels of the timeline from music i have in MP3 , AVID doesnt except it ....what should i do ?

obliged

Avid does import MP3, what version are you running? It will not import if the file was encoded with "VBR encoding" nor if it is protected (such as purchase from iTunes...)

I am running adrenaline ,express pro,dv,the music i want to import is from music CD which i have imported making it mp3 to the internal hard disc.
VBR encoding ?
if you can give me a clue for the solution if there is one..

VBR means Variable Bitrate. It's an option with most MP3 encoders.

You could always convert the MP3 to Wave and them import that. There are a billion programs that will do that conversion.

All the music formats do get confusing. I've found in the past that while I thought I'd converted a track to MP3 (simply because I'd burned the song from the CD to my hard drive), in fact the song was still in a Windows Audio Media format, which Avid will not accept. So I had to use Windows Media Player to "convert" the file to MP3 even after it was on my hard drive (on a PC it's weirdly hard to tell whether it's really MP3 on your hard drive or another format, unless you have your folder views set to see file extensions). To convert to MP3, you select Tools - Options - Rip Music and ensure that MP3 is selected for Format then rip it again.

Why don't you just load the CD and import directly off of that? That is also supported and does not require any interim programs. Your only choice will be whether to keep it at 44.1kHz or sample rate convert to 48kHz is you project is set up as that.

I have imported it straight from the cd,ok,but the thing is that i have thousand songs in mp3 in the hard drive, and its convenient to change easily the music in the clip by drugging from the music library
(i have allready import all my cds in the hd in mp3)
for to do that i have to convert my mp3s to wave again ?

That's actually not as labor intensive as it sounds. Get a conversion program that supports batch conversion, set up the MP3s, convert all at the same time, import to Avid, then delete the Wavs.
