Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

DO you have anything else sharing the same FireWire bus as the Mojo? The Mojo should be in on the motherboard FireWire connection.

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

Well... I don't know where exactly is the line between the different bus segments. I have tried so many options, but the soundcard, wich exist from 2 partswith both a firewire connection, have stayed always in place. But they where sepparated far from each other. I don't know what to try else, I can take the soundcard out, but it will leave me without sound...

But if there is a second or thirth firewire card, but it is not in use, does it matter?

I can play in full quality mode right?

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

I am assuming this is a desktop system and not a laptop. The Mojo should be conencted to the motherboard via FireWire. FOr testting purposes, try only this configuration with no drives online. Put some test footage on the internal drive and see what happens.

If that plays fine, then it is a matter of getting a third part FireWire card (Pyro card is the one supported by ASvid) and put into a PCI slot in the CPU.

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

It is a desktop system. I have tested it with all external harddrives off and with some footage on internal harddrive, it plays fine, it still feels heavy when I output on high quality setting.

When I connected a USB 2.0 harddrive, the avid came up with errors and plays stuttering.

So isn't this strange?

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

I don't beleive that USB 2.0 drives are supported which could be the issue.

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

I have read it and I have looked into the device managment and have checked the firewirecards and soundcard. All those devices are on PCI bus 3 it says. So it seems there is no other PCI bus to use for mojo...

Question: Can't I make uncompressed titles in Version 4.5.1?
Because I see no option for it...

@ JKL

Set up a test clip on your internal IDE drive. Plug Mojo into the IEEE-1394a on your motherboard and nowhere else. Disable all PCI devices (i.e. soundcard, network card, etc.) that are not absolutely system necessary.

You then theoretically could use the Pyro Firewire card in your PCI bus for your storage drives. Or better yet, use hot-swappable IDE or SATA drives for your storage. They sell cheap kits for your 5 1/4" tower bays. Use the Pyro card with Firewire drives only to transfer media to your IDE or SATA drives.

That is the compromise on a non-qualified Avid system. It should work well though.

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

My motherboard doesn't have it's own firewire connection.
So I have to plug the mojo in on a pyro firewirecard on a PCI slot.
So there you go, there is no room for external firewire drives for me... >:(

But right now with version 4.5.1 it seems to work with one external firewire drive. But in the beginning I had a choice of uncompressed titles and capture, but right now I only can choose 25P or 28:1.

I see that in a 25i project I have the options of uncompressed titles and capture etc. So no uncompressed in 25P projects?

Re: Avid + Mojo + ? - need help

Wow, no Firewire on the motherboard? That's too bad. You may want to consider upgrading to a new motherboard and a faster processor while you're at it.

Sound like you can't go the 25P uncompressed route for whatever reason. I guess plug Mojo into your Firewire card and then use internal IDE/SATA drives would be your best solution for what you currently have.
