How bad is it to install other programs such as pro tools and native instruments komplete 4 along with avid media composer on a macbook pro(160 GB/2.33/2 G ram?

Programs won't be run at the same time.

Will avid media composer run alot slower because these other programs are installed?

Any advice or input is greatly appreciated!

First of all, none of Avid's products will run on a Macbook Pro until Avid releases a universal binary. The last rumor I heard was that it would be towards the end of this month that they release the update, but who knows?

Secondly, with Xpress Pro, having it and ProTools on the same machine is possible, but you have to jump through some hoops. I'm not sure if the same applies to MC or not, but I'd guess that it does. I'd search the forums at www.avid.com and do some reading over there. The Avid + ProTools thing has been discussed heavily over there, but I can't recall any threads on DVXUser addressing it.

I hope that helps.

Thanks! I called avid last week and the rep told me that there releasing the mac intel version march 15...hopefully. So thats why I am trying to figure out what I should install on my macbook pro.

Unfortunately, I have an old version of pro tools (LE 6.7) and i need to upgrade to 7.0 and then to 7.1 to get the mac intel based version. Quite the hassle...Anyway thanks for ur input!
