Avid media composer and MacBook Pro

I just got a new Macbook pro 17" thats pretty much fully loaded 2.33/2G/160GB...I was set on getting final cut pro but have beeen using Avid express at my school. A technician at my school suggested that I get Avid media Composer instead. he said there's an education discount where i can get it for $300, over four thousand dollars off the regular price!

My questions: Is it the exact same version?
And when will it be compatible with the Macbook pro?(if its not already)
Also, how necessary would the Avid Mojo be for me? And is that not yet compatible with the macbook pro as well? I was going to call Avid about all this on Monday but was hoping to get some knowledgble advice from fellow DVXusers.

Thanks!

I think that only Xpress Pro is available to students/individuals at the academic discount price--Media Composer is available at the same price ($295) but only to schools or institutions. Both are the same as the full commercial versions, excepet that they don't come with the additional bundled software. At present, Avid software works only on PCs and Mac G4/G5s--the MacIntel version is supposed to be released by the end of March.

Mojo may or may not be useful to you... kind of depends on what you're planning to do with the software. In general, I think it's a great addition to Xpress Pro--it offers analog ingest/output, and monitoring. But you might not need it, depending on how you're planning to output your projects.
