Avid MC 6 - Moving Media FIles

Normally I use Media Tool to consolidate media to a new drive, but recently I have ran into a new issue, which is moving files from a Mac formatted drive to NTFS formatted drives for a new machine to use (I am on a Mac).

I have been told that I could "drag and drop" the MXF files.

Here is where I have made a mistake: All of the MXF files for several projects are on one raid drive. How do I do "drag and drop" without moving every project?

I know this is a noob question. Did I digitize / trans-code everything onto the drives the wrong way? What am I overlooking here?
It seems that each project would need to have its own folder for files, but this this seems to be a problem with working on several projects at the same time.

Any pointers to links or websites about moving media with Avid Media Composer would be appreciated.

The Avid MediaFiles folder is one large folder for all projects with no further separation. You can manage those assets manually by creating new numbered folders in the MXF folder such as reserving folders 100-199 for one project, then 200-299 for another etc. But you need to think of that before you capture or import or transcode, etc. Also, Media Composer managed the number of files in each folder so that it pleases the OS - I can't remember the exact number, but after 5000 or so it will start a new numbered folder, etc.

You can look into the AAF export options where one of them is a "copy" rather than create new files via a consolidate. In there you can select a target drive/folder. Give that a shot and see if that works for you.

I dont know if a Mac version of this exists....but on a PC "MDV_Avid" is a small file utility that would handle that task very easily. It lets me move media between two MC's and also helps me clean up the drives when projects are
