I have access to a mac laptop for shooting direct to hard drive but I have a PC work station. If I capture from my HVX direct to my Mac laptop through Avid can I just simply copy what was captured on location from the Mac laptop to the PC work station? The files are the same aren't they? Thanks!
 
Media files are the same on both--and even better, project files are platform-agnostic, as well. As such, if your media files are on an external drive, you can move the drive from the laptop to the workstation, and vice-versa, and just ping-pong the project files between the computers. In most cases, as the project is being loaded, the Avid will find the mounted drive and relink the media when you enter the project. This is one area where Avid definitely has the advantage.
