Avid Live Capture

How can I perform a live capture straight from the camera in avid xpress? It says that no input signal is found, but my camera is connect via firewire. it acts like it needs a deck or something, but I know that i am able to capture live, I am a n00b to avid so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Try tuning off the deck control by clickling on the deck icon in the capture window. There is also a template in deck configuration for doing this, I am not in front of a system right now, but it is called FireWire or something like that and is intended for live capture.

okay, so i was able to add my camera (pv-dv953) manually in the deck configuration, its being connected by firewire oHCI, but when in capture tool it says there is no deck, and the pv-dv953 from the drop down menu is in italics...BLEH whats going on....!!
