Avid Liquid Pro Is It Worth it?

Hi.

I have used Avid/ Pinnacle software for a little while now and so far I like the software. I am considering upgrading to Liquid Pro but I don't know if it's worth it?
Has anyone out there used this? Is it any good? I'm really lost here and I'm looking for any input and honest opinions if I should bother with this software.

Thanks.
Mike

do you currently have avid liquid and considering liquid pro?

what camera and video formats are you going to use with the software?

do you understand that the hardware part of the liquid pro package is geared mostly for sd based editing. are you going to use devices(cameras and analog video output devices) that would take advantage of the hardware and input options on the liquid pro.

Alright, if it's not obvious enough I'll admit that I am just getting into the pro/semi pro editing scene.

To answer the question. I have a Canon Xl1s which is old, but still a 3 chip pro-class camera. And I have a JVC Everio G HD consumer class camera.

I'm looking for editing software that has some special effects on the level of Adobe After effects but, with a user interface more suitable for a noob.

I'm looking for something to do particle effects with slow motion etc.

Is anything out there for a beginner like me or do I just have to take the learning curve and suck it up?

friendly-ish editing software, yes.

something on the level of adobe after effects, adobe after effects would be the easiest to use(at least you will find more tutorials when you get stuck).

i don't think liquid pro is the right choice for you.

if you want after effects, go with after effects(1000) or production premium(1700)[that comes with photoshop and premiere pro].

on the other side of the coin you can get a mac with final cut studio[that's more for editing and color correcting, but it does have motion(not sure if you would like it)]

on the i'm unbelievably rich and want to use a weird autodesk interface that does not make sense most of the time and i have to learn their shortcuts to do even the simplest video editing, smoke for mac osx.(that's a editor/compositor package)

i think the adobe route would be the best for you, wait for cs5 it will be released soon.

Premiere Elements may be your best bet.
