Avid Liquid Edition and 24P question

OK, I know this isn't the right place for this post but this is the forum that gets read the most and I'm in a bit of a time frame jam.

I have a bunch of footage that has been shot on a DVX100A set at F6. The footage was captured into Liquid Edition which does not remove the pulldown. The files were exported out to DVFilm and the pulldown removed. Then returned to Edition for editing.

I am wondering if there is anyone on board who is doing this process , or something similar using Edition that I might be able to contact on PM to review notes and methods with. I'm having a bit of trouble getting all of the settings just right and the clock is ticking.

I would appreciate it and sorry to have posted in the wrong forum.

Arent you the same dude as bonafide7 ? Dude. Multiple posts and now multiple usernames all on the same thing? PLease stop.

Sorry, I am not "bonafide7". My question was legitimate. Obviously no one was intested in helping. Thank you anyway.

I use Liquid to, but I have no idear about dvfilm.
But i think you are wrong, this is the right forum for liquid, because now it is an avid product :)

With Pinnacle being a recent acquisition by Avid, I have not had the time to get up to speed on its 24 frame capabiliies. Let me check into it.

Thanks Michael,

I am using Liquid Edition 6.1. It is capable of editing 24P footage, but unable to capture it. Which is why it is necessary to export the footage after capture and convert the files with DVFilmMaker.
Then you bring them back into a 24fps timeline. It's at this point that things get difficult. I have no "Live" output to my NTSC monitor. The "live" output works fine with other footage but not with 24 fps stuff on a 24P timeline. I also am unsure of what settings to use when exporting the finished timeline back out to DVFilmMaker for conversion back to interlaced 29.97 footage for DVD.

My problems are compounded by the fact that this is the first time I have shot an entire project on F6, the first time I've used DVFilmMaker and I just upgraded to L.E. 6.1 from L.E. 5.62

So, any light you could shed would be helpful.

Thanks again

Well the first problem is that NTSC does not play back native 24fps since it is a 29.97fps format. The 24 frame material (23.97) needs to have a 2:3 pulldown reinserted into it in order to be a standard NTSC signal. I suspect that this is the basic issue. What you might want to try is exporting the final 24 fame timeline as using DVFilmmaker to create a version by rendering back in the pulldown to make it NTSC compliant.

The Xpress Pro and Media Composer products add 2:3 pulldown on the fly while playing back out to NTSC.

What? lol, a little new to NLE for the past 3 years however that sorta blew me out. I still am a little confused about the term pull down and what that REALLY means and what the hell is a guy with a killer camera like my DVX100B going to do if he has LE 6.1 "going to ger Avid L 7" to do without purchasing a ton more crap to learn just to capture 24p?

Trying not to sound stupid
