Avid issues persist with the hvx

Ok - so I have successfully imported MXF footage from the hvx into avid but it is inconsistent at best. I apologize in advance for cross posting this in the hvx section as well but i think answers will help lots of people and I will postback anything that helps.

I have used the procedure to copy the files into the avid media files directory and then use the media tool to import them into a project. However, this doesnt seem to be incremental. If i shoot more footage and place it in the media file directory the media tool will not reconize it when i start avid again. I have even tried deleting the database file in the media directory so that they reform. To no avail.

So, unless there is another procedure or step I am missing am I to beleive you need to have ALL you footage for a project at one time at the very beginning and import it then?

Anyone else having similar issues or know why this might be occurring - it is essentially making impossible to use avid as an effective tool with the hvx.

thanks all

I have had no problem bringing in incremental footage. I sort the MediaTool by creation date and get my latest footage.

so you close avid - add the footage to the media files/1 folder then restart avid and those new files showed up?

I tried this quite a few times to no avail. Can you detail the steps if they are different then what i am doing

many thanks

I was using 5.2.1 and didn't even have to close the Avid. Copied the stuff (.mxf files directly in the 1 folder if I recall) and the Avid scanned it's drives as I switched back. Ran the media tool and the new footage was there as I'd expect, each time.

BTW, nothing specific to your problem but Avid's starting to put HVX/P2 stuff in their knowledge base:
