Avid Is Going To Kill Me

If this dam program wasn't so good, I'd toss this thing out. OK Here is the scoop.

Machine:
AMD dual core 2.5 gig X64
ASUS Motherbaord
2 Gig Ram
Nvidia quatro fx540 128 ram running the most up to date driver.

So heres what happens

Hd 720pN project. Export footage to Qt movie so I can bring it in to a 30i timeline.
import the QT MOVIE, then drag it the monitor window And BAM!!! CANT play it. Just plays 2 frames and stops. If I hit play again, I get some message that says "to many pre loads" Then play again after that, and I get some other message that says " core file draw blah b;lah crap"

Now If I quit the program and try again, same problem. if I reboot the system, works again until I try importing again. If any one could shed some light on this, that be great because I'm ready to pull my hair out. ( and I don't have to much left)

Thanks:

Can you fill in the "blah blah crap" part of the error message that you're getting?

Thanks.

Sorry, yes I can. Just have to sign off and get it to do it again. Which won't be to hard to do

Thanks:

Is there an answer to this question? I have the same problem but I thought it was my video card (ati x800 series) causing the problem. I was going to upgrade to a Nvidia quatro fx540 128 ram but if that problem exists with that card... then I don't know what to do... maybe it's the processor since I have an AMD x2 as well... any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul DV

I think Avid officially only support Intel, but there's no reason I'm aware of why it shouldn't work on AMD x2 chips.

Have you tried upgrading to the latest version? 5.6.4 I think.

I doubt that video RAM would be a problem: I used to edit HD with a 128MB card before I upgraded a few months back. It's possible though.
